Who i am

My names Joshua Hicks and i’m the creator of Hicks Bricks.

Like many, I adored LEGO® as a child—spending countless hours building, imagining, and creating. But as I grew older, I parted ways with it, thinking I had outgrown the hobby. Years later, a thoughtful gift for my 30th birthday reignited that childhood passion. One set turned into many, and I was hooked all over again.

From the moment I returned to LEGO®, one idea for a MOC (my own creation) that stood out above all others was to build a large Gloucester Cathedral. As a local landmark and my place of work, it felt like the ultimate challenge. For a long time, the scale and complexity kept me from starting. But in January 2025, I finally took the plunge on starting my first ever MOC.

Originally, this was a private project—just something to build at home for the joy of it. But when I showed it to a colleague, they suggested it might be a perfect addition to this summer’s Cathedral festival. I was hesitant at first, but the idea that it might inspire others—especially children—won me over.

the model was on display for a couple months and the reception it received was better than i could have imagined, one thing that quite a few people mentioned is that they would love a smaller model that they could make themselves, thats when i went away and designed a micro and mini version of the Cathedral, these are now available to purchase as a complete set with instructions and packaging.

currently my aim is to finish of the second part of my large model and then to continue to design, build and sell models of the different Cathedral from all over the UK. as i type this i’m currently designing various sizes of St Pauls Cathedral, one of the most iconic Cathedrals, if not buildings in the UK.
